Joy in Seattle

The Seattle Mariners are one of three teams (Texas Rangers and Washington Nationals) that have never appeared in a World Series.  The video below demonstrates that despite this fact, there is joy in Seattle even if mighty Ken Griffey, Jr. has just struck out.

Our podcast featuring the Seattle Mariners will be released on Friday, September 17th.  Go Mariners!!!

Cook & Son

Todd Cook lives in Reading, Pennsylvania with his lovely wife and two children.  A die hard Mariners fan, Cook still considers SAFECO Field in Seattle to be his baseball home.  He travels through the Major Leagues demonstrating his love for both the Mariners and his children.

Cook has taken his oldest child, Timothy to 23 ballparks.  Timothy is 4 years old.  For Timothy, traveling around the baseball world with his Dad has got to be heaven.

Cook is the author of his own blog – Cook & Son Bat’s Blog.  Last week, Cook uploaded his ten thousandth picture to his blog.  He’s essentially using blog technology to write an ongoing love letter to his children.

Ed Kasputis will be interviewing Todd Cook during our next podcast featuring the Seattle Mariners.  Cook & Son are getting their PhD in life – through baseball.  This podcast will be released on Friday, September 17th.

Mariner Moose

The Mariner Moose is the feisty mascot for the Seattle Mariners.  This week is Mariners‘ week with our podcast featuring the Seattle Mariners being released on Friday, September 17th.

The Moose is the first and only mascot for the Mariners.  He made his debut on opening day, April 13, 1990.  The idea of the Moose was selected as a result of a contest with 2,500 entrants.  The Moose was the idea of then fifth grader, Ammon Spiller who said “I chose the Moose because they are funny, neat and friendly. The Moose would show that the Mariners enjoy playing and that they still have a few tricks up their sleeves. It shows they’re having fun no matter what the situation.”

The Moose can be seen at SAFECO Field zooming around on an ATV.  Be careful.  The Moose is reckless but he does have his own Facebook page.

Napa Valley

Napa Valley is located about an hour north of both San Francisco and Oakland and is one of the nine great wine capitals on earth.  This week is A’s week with our podcast featuring the Oakland Athletics being released on Friday, September 10th.

Ed Kasputis will be interviewing two guests about “must see” Napa Valley.  Tab Borges from Classic Convertible Wine Tours will talk about his tours from one of his 1947 Packard convertibles that he uses to whisk clients through Napa Valley each day.

Ed will then interview Jay Selman from award winning Grape Radio.  Imitation is the best form of flattery. A year ago, even before Baseball PhD had its domain name, our staff was studying and admiring Graperadio.com.  ”Graperadio.com had a tremendous influence on the design of both our web site and podcasts,” said Kasputis.  ”I’m excited that the passions of Grape Radio and Baseball PhD finally intersect – in Napa Valley.  Go A’s!”
