Braves tap Gonzalez as new skipper October 13 2010

Today, the Atlanta Braves picked Fredi Gonzalez as their new manager.  During our September 24, 2010 podcast featuring the Atlanta Braves, our Ed Kasputis predicted that Gonzalez would be the Bravos new skipper.

“I attended a luncheon in Atlanta on August 7th and had the opportunity to sit at the same table as Fredi Gonzalez,” said Ed Kasputis.  ”He was there to give moral support to Braves President, John Shuerholz who was speaking to our group.  In my opinion, Fredi was already the new manager of the Braves.  Today the Braves just told the world.”

PNC Park

Is PNC Park the most beautiful Major League ballpark?  Many Baseball PhD fans think so.  How can you beat the water feature and vista of the beautiful Allegheny River where you can dock your boat beside the ballpark and catch a Pirates game?  The farthest seat in the ballpark is just 88 feet from the field.

At night, the downtown Pittsburgh skyline is stunning as is both the view and experience of walking across the Roberto Clemente Bridge.  This week is Pirates‘ week with our podcast featuring the Pittsburgh Pirates being released on Friday, October 8th.  Ed Kasputis will be interviewing Pittsburgh pediatric dentist and entertainer, Howard Elson as Elson makes the case that PNC Park is the most beautiful Major League ballpark.

Professor Bruce Bukiet is 2010 MLB Predictions Champion

The power of math won the day as Professor Bruce Bukiet from the New Jersey Institute of Technology won our 2010 Major League Baseball predictions contest.  Bukiet successfully picked 6 of the 8 teams that made the post season.

“I felt like chasing Secretariat all season long,” said Ed Kasputis, Creative Director for Baseball PhD. “Professor Bukiet did a great job of using math and baseball intuition to have a great year.  I’m going to the library to check out a calculus book in honor of the Professor.”

Kasputis along with two others (Mark Rantala and Baseball Bob) finished second by picking 4 of the 8 post season teams.  Ed Kasputis will be interviewing Professor Bukiet during our podcast featuring the Pittsburgh Pirates which will be released on Friday, October 8th.  Like Professor Bukiet always says, “a day without math is like a day without sunshine.”
