The Unforgettable Linda McCarthy

This is Moe Berg week with our podcast featuring Moe Berg being released on Friday, November 12th. One of our outstanding guests for this podcast is Linda McCarthy.

Linda has served the United States as a member of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for almost 25 years.  Now in the private sector, Linda’s company is History is a Hoot.  She conducts educational training for groups of all ages.

“When we established History is a Hoot, it was with the belief that our passion for history—and historic preservation—could be shared with others in a unique, compelling, and memorable way,” said Linda McCarthy.  ”To a variety of programs focusing on different facets of history, we bring specially prepared presentations created using rare period photographs from our private holdings.”

“I’ve seen Linda McCarthy in action.  Just like Moe Berg, her first hand view of history is fascinating,” said Ed Kasputis, Creative Director of Baseball PhD.  ”I’ve seen her jeep with Moe Berg vanity plates, I’ve held Linda’s Moe Berg bat .  Our listeners will hear Linda’s magic during our next podcast.  I’m convinced, with Linda history is a hoot!”

Chuck Brodsky

The Artist behind Baseball Ballads

Chuck Brodsky is an American singer and songwriter who was born in Philadelphia and loves the Phillies (sorry about this year Chuck).  Chuck wrote Moe Berg – The Song which will be heard during our next podcast featuring Moe Berg.

Chuck will also be interviewed during this podcast.  Did you know that Chuck Brodsky’s great uncle worked on the Manhattan Project and Moe Berg used him as a reference on his OSS (Office of Strategic Services) application?  Chuck didn’t even know this fact until after he wrote Moe Berg – The Song.

Moe Berg - Discover his story

Episode 36

Our next podcast will be about the man who inspired the creation of Baseball PhD – Moe Berg.  It all started on Sunday, April 19, 2009 when Baseball PhD’s future creator, Ed Kasputis was at Citi Field.  Ed was with his family and friend from Philadelphia, David Drubin watching the first Sunday game at the Mets beautiful new ball park.

“It was the 6th inning when David Drubin starting telling me about the incredible story of Moe Berg,” said Ed Kasputis.  A few days later, Drubin mailed a book about Berg to Kasputis.  ”I read the first half of the book and came up with the idea of Baseball PhD,” said Kasputis.  ”Just like Moe Berg, I wanted to get a PhD in life – through baseball.

Election Day - November 2, 2010

The San Francisco Giants powered by their great pitching staff won the 2010 World Series.  It was their 6th World Championship and first since 1954.

In 1954, Dwight Eisenhower was President, gas was 21 cents per gallon and future U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy was graduating from Harvard.  Without the help of Willie Mays, the 2010 Giants peaked at the right time and defeated Rangers‘ ace Cliff Lee for a second time.

Today is election day throughout the United States.  Exercise your right and vote.
