Our PhD Committee is in Miami, checking out Sun Life Stadium and Miami Marlins Ballpark which is currently under construction. Ed interviews Greg Sherlock from Populous. Greg is the lead designer for the new ballpark. Ed shares his story about Little Billie and the PhD Committee talk about chivalry in baseball. Ed then interviews Steve Barr from Little League as the Little League World Series starts today. Ed also shares his experience at the SABR convention that just ended in Atlanta. Lastly, our PhD Committee gears up to move from the east coast to the west coast of Florida. Goodbye to Miami and hello to Tampa, home to those dynamic Rays.

Minnesota Twins

Target Field will open on April 12, 2010 as the Minnesota Twins host the Boston Red Sox. Target Field will be the only new major league ballpark that will open this year. Ed, Farley and Mark begin the podcast by talking about Target Field. Ed then interviews Michael Wekesser, lead designer for the Target Field project. Mike’s employer is the world renown sports architectural firm, Populous.
The Wise Guys then battle it out over baseball history and then Baseball Bob appears from the shadows to give us the baseball trivia question of the podcast. What was the name of the franchise that moved to Baltimore in 1954?

Baseball PhD meets Target Field

Like anything great, we had to travel to Kansas City to learn about Target Field. Target Field opens on April 12, 2010 in Minneapolis. It will be the new home of the Minnesota Twins.
Target Field was designed at the world headquarters of Populous. In the video below, Ed Kasputis interviews Michael Wekesser, lead designer for the project.
