Cleveland has been home to the Cleveland Indians since the American League started in 1901. The Indians are one of the original eight franchises in the American League. The Indians have won the World Series in 1920 and 1948.
Cleveland is also home to many other great institutions. For health care, the Cleveland Clinic is second to none and when it comes to roller coasters, Cedar Point is the greatest amusement park in the world. Cedar Point is located in Sandusky, 60 miles west of Cleveland.

1997 World Series

The Florida Marlins won their first World Series in 1997 in just their 5th season. The Cleveland Indians were one strike away from winning their first World Series since 1948. The Marlins rallied and scored one run in the bottom of the 9th. Two innings later, the Marlins scored the winning run and brought South Florida its first World Series Championship.
