Mariner Moose

The Mariner Moose is the feisty mascot for the Seattle Mariners.  This week is Mariners‘ week with our podcast featuring the Seattle Mariners being released on Friday, September 17th.

The Moose is the first and only mascot for the Mariners.  He made his debut on opening day, April 13, 1990.  The idea of the Moose was selected as a result of a contest with 2,500 entrants.  The Moose was the idea of then fifth grader, Ammon Spiller who said “I chose the Moose because they are funny, neat and friendly. The Moose would show that the Mariners enjoy playing and that they still have a few tricks up their sleeves. It shows they’re having fun no matter what the situation.”

The Moose can be seen at SAFECO Field zooming around on an ATV.  Be careful.  The Moose is reckless but he does have his own Facebook page.
